About HayDevClub

HayDevClub is a media and community project about technology and the world around it. The subject is wider than software: digital culture, freedom, privacy, creativity, society, and the economics of the tools we all depend on.

The project exists in three forms. There is a podcast and video on YouTube. There are meetups in Yerevan, where people give talks and then stay to argue about them. And there will be products of our own, built under the same name.

What the evenings look like

A meetup is two or three talks with questions, and a long conversation after them. Doors open before the programme starts, so that nobody walks into a room that has already begun. Every talk has a person behind it and a topic that is worth an evening: we do not run a meetup because a month has passed.

The programme of every meetup stays on this site afterwards, with the times, the speakers and the venue. A meeting that happened is part of the history of the club, not a page to be deleted once the next one is scheduled.

What we talk about

Not frameworks. The interesting part of technology is what it does to people: how a protocol changes who holds power, why privacy is an engineering problem before it is a legal one, what it costs to build something that lasts.

Technical detail is welcome and never dumbed down. A talk can be deeply specific—it just has to be about something that matters outside the editor.

Taking part

Two things are always open: giving a talk and suggesting an episode. Both start with a message. Tell us what you want to talk about and why it is worth an evening of other people’s time—that is the whole application process.

If you run a venue, or your company wants to host an evening, that also starts with a message.
